7 Days
DAY 1
Nisyros: One of the most beautiful and lesser-known Aegean islands, part of the Dodecanese island group, next to Kos and Tilos. The island’s obsidian trade is what made its economy thrive in antiquity. The jem was extracted by locals from the nearby Gyali Island where a pumice mining factory is still in operation today.
According to Greek mythology, Nisyros was created during the war between Gods and Giants. Poseidon chased the Giant Polyvotis down to Kos, cut a part of it and threw it to his enemy, sinking him forever in the bottom of the Aegean Sea. The legendary rock referred to in the Myth is supposed to be the island of Nisyros. It is said that when the volcano used to erupt it was the defeated Giant’s angry breath.
Nisyros volcano is the youngest one in Greece. The island has been inhabited since prehistoric times and is home to a large number of cultural monuments. It truly is ideal for anyone searching for an off the beaten track destination offering natural and cultural sights to explore.
DAY 2
Halki: Its secluded location has shaped it up to be one of the best destinations for relaxing holidays!
The capital town of Halki is Nimporio, where the island's port is also located. Nimporio is a quaint little village on the eastern side of Halki that boasts beautiful traditional architecture. The seafront village is lined up with cafeterias, restaurants, and shops, while it is the best place to enjoy long walks by the sea as well. There used to be another village in Halki, Chorio, which was abandoned in the 19th century when its inhabitants moved to Nimporio.
Today, there’s an old Medieval castle worth visiting on a hill above Chorio village.
The island's beaches are beautiful and have crystal clear waters, ideal for swimming! Most of the organized ones are located close to Nimporio and they are easily accessible on foot or by bus.
The beaches that are far from Nimporio are secluded and unorganized, perfect for those who seek peace and privacy!
Thanks to its beautiful natural landscape, Halki is one of the best destinations for hiking and long walks, so you better pack your walking shoes when traveling there!
DAY 3
The most impressive archaeological site on Rhodes, according to most visitors, is Lindos. The spectacular natural terrain, with the acropolis standing on a gigantic rock, the white village houses and the crystal blue waters are simply awe-inspiring!
White flat-roofed cottages ascend up a slope from a golden, shallow, sandy beach, forming a light belt around the north side of the castle on the hill, over the tranquil waters of a broad, rocky harbor. The Acropolis of Lindos' majestic fortress sits enthroned above. The pillars of a dainty small temple, once devoted to the goddess Athena Lindia, can be seen behind the warlike walls if you look closely.
Here, 5000 years of human history and life await exploration.
DAY 4
Rhodes: Also known as the “Knights’ island”, Rhodes has a rich historical past, which you can tell by its historical buildings and monuments. The atmosphere in Rhodes Old Town is simply unique! Strong walls, stone-paved alleys, elegant mansions, and a medieval castle create the illusion that you have time-traveled back to the age of the knights. The Rhodes Old Town, which is a Unesco World Heritage Site and one of the best-preserved medieval towns in Europe, attracts millions of visitors every year! Stroll around the paved alleys, visit the Venetian Castle, the Street of the Knights and the Palace of the Grand Master. The atmosphere of Rhodes Town will captivate you! Don’t be surprised if you believe you’re into a medieval fairy tale. Who knows? Maybe you were a knight or a princess in your past life!
Rhodes combines cosmopolitan vibes with medieval architecture in a unique way!
The natural landscape, imposing buildings, ancient towns and picturesque villages meet amazing beaches, fashion boutiques, top restaurants, and dance clubs. No wonder why Rhodes Greece never fails to surprise travelers from all over the world!
Apart from exploring Rhodes Old Town, there are so many things to do in Rhodes! Visit the imposing Acropolis of Lindos, the Valley of butterflies, the monastery of Filerimos, do water sports and Rhodes tours. The adventure never stops in Rhodes island!
As for Rhodes beaches, they are some of the best beaches in Greece. Secluded or crowded, cosmopolitan or hidden, there’s no way you won’t find the perfect beach for you. Lindos, Anthony Quinn, Faliraki, Tsambika, Kallithea, and Agathi are some of the best beaches on the island!
DAY 5
Symi: It stands out of the other Greek islands for its beautiful architecture, colorful houses, and relaxed atmosphere. The port of Symi seems to have popped out of a painting and is whithout doubt the most impressive spot on the island. The hill above the port is packed with crayon-like mansions which emit a fairytale-like charm. Not to mention that any corner of the town boasts a magnificent view of the Aegean Sea. The unique atmosphere of the port will bewitch you!
The main town of Symi, which is divided into two settlements: Gialos and Chorio, is the island’s center of activities.
Within a walking distance from the port, there are many little villages and beaches to discover. If you manage to peel yourself away from the utterly romantic port, you should visit the beautiful Symi beaches. They might be small, but they are clean and have mesmerizing crystal clear waters. Some of them are organized, but the rest are secluded, thus ideal for those who want to relax away from the hustle and the bustle! If on the other side you are an adventure lover, you’ll be happy to know that a hike around the island will bring you to many cute chapels and photogenic spots. Actually, on the southern part of the island, you’ll find the renowned Panormitis monastery, which is worth visiting.
Symi holidays are ideal for families and couples who seek relaxation away from the noisy crowds.
DAY 6
Tilos: Thanks to its secluded location and small size, Tilos is considered a destination off the beaten tourist trail. It has emerged as a great destination for alternative holidays, as camping and nudism are quite popular on the island.
Tilos island has two main villages: Megalo Chorio and Livadia. Megalo Chorio, which is perched on the slopes of a mountain, is the island’s capital. Livadia is the main port and the most touristically developed village of Tilos, as it has many facilities. The most mysterious village in Tilos, though, sits in the center of the island and it’s Mikro Chorio, which is a ghost village that has been abandoned by its inhabitants in the 50s’.
As for Tilos beaches, they boast a beautiful natural setting and have a relaxing atmosphere. Standing out for their crystal clear waters and picturesque ambiance, they are perfect for those who want to unwind away from the noisy crowds. Except for Livadia, which is organized with umbrellas and sunbeds, the rest of the island’s beaches are not organized. Many of them are naturist beaches. Tilos beaches can be easily accessed on foot.
DAY 7
It doesn’t take much to get excited about visiting Kos. The island is famous as the birthplace of Hippocrates, the father of modern medicine, for its incredible selection of beaches and great food.
The Asklepion is Kos’ most famous archaeological site, with a history that’s at the heart of the island’s identity and a significance that travels well beyond its shores. Built in the 3rd century BC, it was designed not just as a sanctuary dedicated to Asclepius (the god of healing) but also as a medical school to continue the work of Hippocrates, who lived and taught his progressive medical theories on Kos more than a century earlier. It’s also one of the island’s most serene locations, built over three levels, with sea views and topped by a forest whose soothing aura would have been part of the therapeutic experience.
And on to the food, for which Kos is rightly famed. Wherever you find yourself – along the waterfront of the main town, from Kardamaina to Kefalos on the south coast, or on the beaches to the north – you’ll find tavernas and restaurants overflowing with local delicacies. As a cosmopolitan island, Kos offers vivid nightlife!
